" "Off the field he reminds me of that affluenza kid." – Brian Billick on Johnny Manziel #WhitlocksHouseParty https://t.co/MghP6WQYGr — FS1 (@FS1) February 2, 2016 "

Brian Billick joined Jason Whitlock’s FS1 House Party By the Bay show on FS1 (which is co-hosted by Julie Stewart-Binks, and Clay Travis has also featured prominently). After Billick’s initially saying that Manziel had no business being in the league, and trying not to discuss him during Super Bowl week, Clay asked a follow-up question, and the former Ravens coach dropped a whopper of an analogy.

“Off the field he reminds me of that Affluenza kid,” said Billick. “He just doesn’t get it. And again, maybe the way he was raised he just doesn’t have the reference frame. For whatever it’s worth, I’ve seen nothing on the football field athletically, and the way he plays his game, to indicate he can last in the NFL.”

For those that missed the reference, the Affluenza teen is Ethan Couch, who received probation after killing four people in a drunk driving accident that occurred in 2013 when he was 16. Harsh!

Nevertheless, at this point, it would be relatively surprising to me if Manziel is on a roster next season. It would be one thing for him to be in the limelight off the field if he had been at all productive between the lines in his two years in the NFL, but the combination of the two is perilous for any team to take on going forward.

Here is Clay’s reaction to the analogy from after the segment:
