Oregon State Was Down 1 and Utah Fouled at the Buzzer on a Halfcourt Shot

Utah suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Oregon State on Thursday night. Down two, Utah’s Jordan Loveridge was fouled shooting a 3-pointer with two-seconds remaining. Loveridge went to the line and hit all three free throws. Then teammate Brandon Taylor fouled Oregon State’s Stephen Thompson Jr. on a desperation heave from mid-court. THompson proceeded to hit all three free throws.

Brutal. We’ll probably never see another ending quite like this again. First of all, college basketball players hitting 6 of 6 free throws. With that much time. And the foul on a halfcourt shot… Duke did not get a call on a similar play at the end of a game and I said no one ever gets that call. I guess we can never say never.
