Nets Hire New GM Day After Mikhail Prokhorov Said He'd Never Heard of Him

Sean Marks has taken the Brooklyn Nets General Manager job. Marks, a 40-year old from New Zealand, has been a part of the San Antonio Spurs organization since 2012, acting as director of basketball operations, an assistant coach and assistant general manager at various points. The reason we’re mentioning this hiring is that so many people were lying about Marks and the Nets yesterday – including the team’s owner.

That was apparently Prokhorov deflecting questions with humor. Because when your team is 14-40, you can’t have teams figuring out what you’re doing. Even better, “multiple people” said that Marks passed on the job. Again, this might be true. Maybe he had a change of heart. Or maybe this was some elaborate smokescreen that proves the Brooklyn Nets are the most well-run organization in the entire NBA.
