Jordan Brand Athletes Refuse to Laugh At Crying Jordan Meme

Crying Jordan is a force of Internet nature, whether we like it or not. Over NBA All-Star Weekend in Toronto, a film crew spoke with a bunch of players about Crying Jordan. The reactions can be split into two camps – Jordan Brand and non-Jordan Brand.

Jordan Brand athlete Russell Westbrook talked about Jordan’s resumé. Jimmy Butler rolled his eyes and said he tried to avoid it. Kobe gave a canned Kobe-like soundbite about MJ’s passion. Kawhi Leonard took the opportunity to explain that he doesn’t have Twitter or Instagram. Only Carmelo dared to call it the funniest meme. Who else?

The other players to talk on camera – Dwyane Wade, Stephen Curry, Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, Kristaps Porzingis, Jahlil Okafor, James Harden, John Wall (who also addressed his own meme), and Nik Stauskas all professed to seeing and enjoying the meme. A couple of those testimonials almost had me thinking we were being too harsh on the over-used image.

It’s also interesting to note that no one confessed to having seen the image put on their body. That might be a fun experiment.
