The New York Yankees defeated one-half of the Detroit Tigers’ roster today by scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning in an unorthodox way. With the score tied 9-9 and two outs, Dustin Fowler lofted a lazy fly ball to leftfielder Jason Krizan. It would have been an easy catch if not for the blinding sun shining directly into his eyes.

Krizan botched the grab, allowing Tyler Wade to race in from first base with the game-winning run.

It’s a real tough break for Krizan, who split time between AA and AAA last season and was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time after the day’s starters had taken off for the golf course.
