Video: D-League Fastbreak is One of the Best Fastbreaks Ever

It’s a rare occasion when a sports clip deserves the superlatives used to describe it but this fastbreak from the Iowa Energy fits the criteria.

Dunking savant D.J. Stephens capped off the fancy display with a high-flying Dunk Contest-quality jam. The former Memphis guard has a 46-inch vertical and could likely hold his own against Zach LaVine.

The finish alone would have been spectacular. What makes this play so special is that it came on the heels of a slick behind-the-back pass from from former Kentucky star Andrew Harrison and a perfect lob.

The other two Energy players should have walked off the court after this happened. There is simply no way they’ll ever understand the inside jokes of the Fastbreak Three. Living through something like this will bring them so close and probably result in life-long friendships.

Or maybe not. Maybe there will be a new “play of the year” candidate by tomorrow. That seems to be how the world works.
