Pablo Sandoval lost his starting job to Travis Shaw earlier this week. Shaw has out-hit, out-fielded, and out-dieted Sandoval during Spring Training. The good news is that Sandoval is a team player and won’t let this get him down. Via NESN:

"“We talked about it. I’m happy with the decision,” Sandoval said Thursday, according to WEEI.com. “They made the decision. It’s the right decision to help the team win. I’m going to be happy. I’m going to be ready on the bench, get ready for anything. I’m going to get ready during the season to do my job.”"

Sandoval will make $17,000,000 this season – plus a $600,000 signing bonus. He is due to make another $17,000,000 – plus a $600,000 signing bonus – next season. In 2018, he will get a much-deserved raise to $18,000,000. For some reason, his signing bonus will stay at $600,000. In 2019 he will also make 18,600,000 total dollars. I like how all these figures are nice round numbers.
