Former Florida Gators quarterback Will Grier will transfer to the West Virginia Mountaineers.

The first question is when Grier will be eligible to return. He will miss the 2016 season after transferring. What has not been settled is whether his PED suspension will be extended into 2017 or he can return for the opener.

Another issue is whether Dana Holgorsen will be there when Grier can suit up in 2017. Holgorsen and West Virginia broke off contract negotiations in February. His current contract expires after the 2017 season.

One could see Holgorsen leaving of his own volition after next year. West Virginia made things hard on itself joining the Big 12. They have struggled keeping his assistants. West Virginia could also part ways with Holgorsen after a disappointing year. The Mountaineers are a muddling 15-21 in conference since joining the Big 12.

This is the program that brought in Holgorsen for Bill Stewart because 9-3 wasn’t good enough.
