LeBron Already Has More Playoff Wins (120) Than Michael Jordan (119)

We love a good LeBron James/Michael Jordan debate on this site. At the age of 30, LeBron had a better resume. Jordan sputtered early in his career and couldn’t get the Bulls to the Finals until Phil Jackson came along and the East’s stars (ie, Celtics, Pistons) got old.

Jordan would go on to acquire better supporting casts (Rodman, Kukoc), and win three rings before taking 1.5 years off and then returning to win three more titles.

LeBron almost certainly won’t win six titles; it doesn’t appear he’s a lock to win three, not the way the young Golden State Warriors are built. But he’s about to do something nobody’s done since Bill Russell – get to the Finals six years in a row.

Nevertheless, LeBron will pass Jordan in many other statistical categories – such as this: With a Game 1 victory over the Hawks, LeBron now has 120 playoff wins; Michael Jordan only had 119. Yes, Jordan played in an era of the 5-game 1st round; yes, Jordan probably gave up 20-25 playoff wins to play baseball (in the 1995 1/4 season, they lost in the 2nd round to the young Orlando Magic).

LeBron only turns 32 in December. He could easily win another 40 playoff games in his career, depending on the supporting cast the Cavs put around him. If you look at regular season career minutes played, LeBron could catch Jordan next year; he’s already played games and minutes in the playoffs than Jordan.
