Houston Will Blow Out Oklahoma In Season Opener, Houston Mayor Says

Sylvester Turner ran for mayor of Houston on a platform that focused on pothole repair, so already you know this is a practical man of reasonable ambition.

Turner also is a graduate of the University of Houston, and as he told the campus magazine he’s fired up to see his Cougars face Oklahoma in the first game of the season, Sept. 3, at NRG Stadium in Houston.

"I will be at the first game against Oklahoma. It should be a sell out at NRG Stadium considering what UH did this past season. For the Cougars to start out the season against a powerhouse like Oklahoma speaks to how far the program has come. We’ll win that one easily then move on. In this first game, I think we’ll win by 14 or possibly 21 points. Then, we’ll look for some stiffer competition."

Funny thing about that: It’s not as far-fetched as it sounds when it first enters your ear holes. UH went 13-1 last year, finishing the season with a two-touchdown win over Florida State in the Peach Bowl. Oklahoma went 11-2 and finished the year at No. 5, just three spots ahead of UH.

So yeah, but still.
