Mississippi State Student Dies After Falling From Stadium

A 21-year-old Mississippi State student died Saturday after falling from the top of the Jumbotron at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Miss., reported WTVA-TV.

Andrew Demboski and two other students climbed the video board just before 1:30 a.m., when Demboski slipped and fell.

"He fell about 18 feet onto a platform, landing on his head, Hunt said. The Starkville Fire Department had to use rescue techniques to get him down from the platform. Emergency responders worked on Demboski for about an hour while he was being removed to the ground level but could not save him, Hunt said. A helicopter was waiting outside the stadium to take him to a hospital."

It’s unclear how Demboski and his friends got inside the stadium, but WTVA reported it isn’t uncommon for Mississippi State students to climb the facilities for the thrill and the view.

Mississippi State says it is investigating, but had no further comment.
