Warriors Totally Punk'd Luke Walton About Lakers Lottery Results

Luke Walton will take over as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers at the conclusion of the Golden State Warriors season. For now, he’s Steve Kerr’s right hand man as the Warriors make a run at their second consecutive title. Meanwhile, the Lakers have their second consecutive #2 pick in the NBA Draft. No one knew that last night before the lottery (except Dikembe Mutombo, obviously), but the Warriors decided to have some fun with Walton as Raymond Ridder texted him to say that the Lakers lost their pick.

Should the Lakers be worried that their new coach doesn’t understand the draft lottery process? No. It was apparent last night that not many people do.

As to whether Walton, who is taking over a franchise that has won fewer games in the last three seasons combined (65) than the Warriors won in either of the last two seasons (67 in ’14-’15 and 73 in ’15-’16), will have the “last laugh,” remains to be seen.
