Jeff Hornacek is [very nearly almost] the new coach of the New York Knicks. The New York Daily News got a hold of some really steamy pictures of Hornacek, Phil Jackson, and Knicks GM Steve Mills leaving dinner while giving each other coach me eyes on Wednesday night. The paper took full advantage and referenced a timeless Austin Powers line.

As for the actual hire… Good for Phil hiring someone who never played for the Lakers or Bulls, right!? Kind of. From the NYDN earlier this week:

"As a scrappy guard and an Illinois product, Hornacek, an accounting major, was coveted by Jackson. The Bulls, coached by Jackson, were trying to package Luc Longley for Hornacek in 1994 but the Jazz swooped in and acquired him from the Sixers instead for Jeff Malone. The Bulls moved on and signed Ron Harper the following summer."

So even when Phil doesn’t hire a Phil Guy, he still hires someone he’s considered a Phil Guy for the last 20 years.
