Matt Harvey Doesn't Speak With Reporters After Another Loss

Matt Harvey is struggling mightily this season and things continued to get worse on Tuesday night against the Washington Nationals. Harvey went five innings and gave up five runs and eight hits, three of which were home runs. He also walked two while striking out just one batter.

The supposed ace of the New York Mets fell to 3-7 on the year, his ERA rose to 6.08 and his WHIP ballooned to 1.69. He also didn’t talk to reporters after the game.

As our own Stephen Douglas has speculated, Harvey might actually be struggling because of the lack of distractions around him. He seemed to thrive on that stuff.

Whatever is going on, Harvey is completely in the tank right now. He has given up an absurd 73 hits and 36 earned runs in just 53.1 innings so far this season. He has yet to go past the sixth inning in any of his 10 starts this year, and has given up five or more earned runs in three straight appearances. So yeah, you could say the 27-year-old is pretty awful right now.

How bad have things gotten? Even Bryce Harper feels bad for Harvey.
