Baylor Recruits Refusing To Enroll After Art Briles Firing

Baylor fired head coach Art Briles this week after the revelations of his football program’s disgusting handling of sexual assault allegations against its players. The Bears signed the 17th-ranked recruiting class in 2016, but now that Briles is gone it appears to be falling apart.

Baylor’s future recruiting efforts may have taken a huge hit from the Briles firing as well. Four-star wide receiver Hezekiah Jones and three-star safety Donovan Stiner, members of the 2017 class, de-committed from the school as well.

Urquidez, a 6-foot-6, 300 pounder out of Copperas Cove, Texas and Hudson, a 6-foot-6, 325 pound monster out of Silsbee, Texas, were supposed to be the future of the Bears’ offensive line. Both guys looked like stars in the making up front. Hudson was rated as a top-50 player by 24/7 Sports, and many experts had him as the top recruit in Baylor’s class. If both guys wind up asking out of their Letters of Intent it would be a huge blow to the team and its future.

It’s probably not a stretch to say this is likely just the first wave of defections from Baylor. More could be coming as the fallout from Briles’ firing continues.
