WWE Money in the Bank Vegas Odds: Kevin Owens Is Odds-On Favorite
Over the past year, Kevin Owens has been arguably the most entertaining WWE performer when you combine matches with microphone. Perhaps consequently, he’s atop the odds from CG Technology book handicapper Jason Simbal to win the six-man Money in the Bank ladder match on Sunday:
Kevin Owens: (-130)
Dean Ambrose: (5-2)
Chris Jericho: (8-1)
Cesaro: (9-1)
Sami Zayn: (15-1)
Alberto Del Rio: (20-1)
The suitcase would be a good prop for Owens for the indefinite future.
Recognizing that Del Rio indeed a longshot to win, I like the value there. Yes, he wouldn’t seem to immediately fit into the storyline for the title in a way that Owens or Ambrose would; that being said, in my mind he’s at least as likely to win the match as Chris Jericho, who at this stage in his career should not be anywhere near the championship picture.
These are CG Technology’s odds in other matches:
Roman Reigns (-250) vs. Seth Rollins (+220)
AJ Styles (-140) vs. John Cena (+110)
Rusev (-550) vs. Titus O’Neil (+330)
New Day (-140) vs. The Club (2-1) vs. Enzo & Cass (6-1) vs. Vaudevillains (12-1)
There are no odds yet for Becky Lynch and Natalya versus Dana Brooke and Charlotte, which is an angle that has not really been developed well on WWE television. (As an aside, it remains criminal that they’ve kept Sasha Banks embargoed from main television programming since WrestleMania; she’s been appearing at house shows and on Superstars.)
This event, which kicks off SummerSlam season, has not been made to feel as important as in past years. Creative is presumably fretting over the upcoming brand split, but a lot of the details in the interim have felt haphazard. Even with Seth Rollins and John Cena back from injury, WWE is not nearly firing on all cylinders. Hopefully that will change soon.
