Jermaine Jones Red Carded Against Ecuador

Both USA and Ecuador went down to 10 men early in the second half. Antonio Valencia was sent off for a second yellow card. Jermaine Jones received a straight red for a hand to the face. There was not much force behind it, but, by rule, that was the correct call.

Jones has an edge to his game. Sometimes you get caught by it. The 34-year-old will miss the semifinal, if the U.S. hangs on for the win. His absence creates a substantial hole in central midfield.
