Pau Gasol Considering Freezing His Sperm in Case He Plays in the Olympics

Veteran center Pau Gasol has yet to decide if he’ll play for Spain in the 2016 Summer Olympics. His country has won the silver medal in the last two Games and are one of the few teams that give the United States pause for concern.

But like everyone else, Gasol is weighing the pros against the highly publicized cons — like the threat of contracting the Zika virus while in Brazil.

“Freezing sperm is one of the measures I have to consider,” Gasol told the Associated Press.

Awesome.

While I appreciate the forethought, it’s depressing that this rates as a feel-good story in advance of the Games. It feels as if we’ll be watching to see what goes wrong instead of what goes right.
