Bartolo Colon pitched 7.2 innings and won the decision in Thursday’s Mets – Pirates game. Colon also hit a stand-up double to lead off the 3rd inning. It was Colon’s third double of his career. Now the question becomes: Can Bartolo Colon hit for the cycle this season? His double was his third hit of the season. He singled on June 4th and the world will never forget his home run on May 7th. So can he do it? If major winners in other sports can accomplish a calendar year slam, I think we should give Bartolo the opportunity to celebrate a calendar year cycle.

Now, what kind of odds would you get on Bartolo Colon hitting a triple in the major leagues at 43-years old? What confluence of events could possibly lead to Colon reaching third on a ball he himself hit? I really hope we find out.
