Matt Harvey’s 2016 season has been a disaster. Last night’s loss to the Washington Nationals dropped him to 4-10 on the year. After departing the game in the fourth inning, he turned to a sleeve of sunflower seeds to dull the pain.

If he was looking for happiness or answers in that sleeve, he found neither.

The New York Mets’ chances to defend their pennant will hinge on Harvey finding his form and the elbow integrity of Noah Syndergaard and Steven Matz. What was once an overwhelming strength is now a giant question mark.

Terry Collins is now the one looking for answers. If his quest is anything like Harvey’s, it’s going to continue to be a disappointing summer in Queens.
