Carson Wentz Still 3rd String in Philadelphia, Still Going to be Inactive

This doesn’t feel like news, but it’s July, so it’s being passed off as such: Carson Wentz, the #2 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, is unlikely to be active on game day early in the season because he’s going to be the 3rd string QB.

We heard this after the Eagles retained Sam Bradford and signed Chase Daniel. We heard this leading up to the draft. But I guess some hard-headed Eagles fans didn’t want to believe it, so rookie coach Doug Pederson is going to forced to keep saying it.

For the next two months, it seems.

Impatient Eagles fans might want to take up Yoga. After the Eagles beat the Browns in week one, I’m not sure there are three more wins on the schedule. Fans will clamor for change and Wentz to have a shot, but remember, he’s from North Dakota State, and the speed difference between the college defenses he saw and NFL defenses isn’t something you can adjust to overnight. It doesn’t matter how quickly Wentz is supposedly adjusting.

It’s going to get really ugly after back-to-back beatdowns from the Packers and Seahawks in late November. Good luck, Eagles fans.
