The belief that a baseball can “have eyes” is prevelant in the game and used to explain weakly-hit flares falling for singles and high choppers eluding a diving third baseman’s glove. I’ve never heard a person claim that a ball has a sense of humor but that could all change after Tuesday night.

A vendor working the Oakland A’s-Houston Astros game had the misfortune of being in the way of a Marwin Gonzalez foul ball and taking the liner to his rear end.

He handled it like a pro, laughing it off seconds after a mad scramble for the souvenir broke out.

If we live in a just world, our man here will trade his ice cream duties for beer sales tonight because that’s where the real earnings potential exists.
