Autumn can be a lovely time to get married. It conflicts with college football season. If you’re someone who spends college football Saturday attached to a couch, here are four weekends you shouldn’t feel so bad about missing to attend inconsiderately timed nuptials.

September 10th

Can you survive missing Arkansas/TCU, BYU/Utah, Tennessee/VT and still have a long, fulfilling football season? We’re betting you can. Worst football weekend of the season.

October 22nd

Ole Miss/LSU may be relevant. Wisconsin/Iowa? Maybe a Big 12 upset? There’s not much going on. That lead night game you’ll miss during the reception involves Penn State. It’s hard to find an excuse for you to have that phone out during the speeches.

November 5th

Yes, it’s Alabama/LSU weekend. But, here’s the thing. There’s almost nothing else going on. Oregon/USC is maybe a meaningful game. Remember: Alabama/LSU is almost always a brutal game to watch. You can catch the highlights, if there are any. You don’t have to deal with that guy on Twitter claiming the boring game is a riveting defensive contest only true aficionados can appreciate.

November 19th

This is the calm before the storm. Ohio State/Michigan State will be a big deal in part of the country. That’s the part of the country that doesn’t schedule weddings this late into fall for weather-related reasons. It will be SEC-iesta weekend. Perhaps Oregon/Utah is something? Maybe UCLA/USC is still important? You’re probably okay.
