Kevin Durant Says He Didn't Tell Russell Westbrook He Was Returning To The Thunder

Kevin Durant is refuting claims that he told Oklahoma City Thunder teammates he would return to the team.

Royce Young has claimed that while at a dinner, Durant essentially told Russell Westbrook and Nick Collison that he was coming back to the Thunder. Young has since corrected those remarks a bit, saying that was how Westbrook felt about the situation.

Well, now Durant has told The Vertical that story is false. Here are his full remarks:

"“It’s false. I didn’t say that — words about me telling Russell or Nick that I would stay or leave never came out of my mouth. We met as teammates, but no promises came out of it. In this day and age, I can’t control anything people claim out there. Someone can go out and say something random right now, and people will believe it. “I never told Russell or Nick, ‘All right guys, I’m coming back to the Thunder’ — and then a week later, I decide not to. Never happened. I don’t operate like that. I heard people say that story, but it’s not the truth.”"

So now we’re hearing the Golden State Warriors’ newest signing never told anyone he was returning to the team. It’s hard to know who to believe here, so we can probably just chalk this up as a “we’ll never know” scenario.
