Aldon Smith has checked into rehab. The former Pro Bowler made headlines over the weekend after apparently posting a video to Periscope in which he was smoking marijuana. While you never actually see Smith’s face, the voice in the video sounds like him and was posted on an account he’s used before.

Now TMZ is reporting Smith will enter a treatment facility, but it is not clear what he’s seeking treatment for. This will be the 26-year-old’s second time in rehab, as he sought help in 2013 after two DUI arrests.

Smith has been in almost constant trouble since entering the NFL in 2011. In January of 2012 he was arrested for a DUI in Miami Beach, Florida. In June of that year he suffered stab wounds while trying to break up a fight at his house. He wound up being charged with misdemeanors for illegal possession of an assault weapon. On September 30, 2013 he was again arrested for driving under the influence and possession of marijuana after a single-car crash. He entered rehab and took an indefinite leave of absence from the NFL.

On April 13, 2014, Smith was acting erratically at Los Angeles International Airport and became combative and belligerent with a TSA agent. While all charges against him were dropped, Smith wound up being suspended for nine games of the 2014 season.

On August 6, 2015 Smith was arrested for an alleged hit and run in Santa Clara, California, and was charged with another DUI. The San Francisco 49ers released him the next day. He signed with the Oakland Raiders for the 2015 season, and played in nine games, but was suspended for a year by the NFL on November 17, 2015.

Smith re-signed with the Raiders this offseason but his career now has to be considered to be in serious doubt.
