Jonathan Lucroy is headed to the Texas Rangers and reliever Jeremy Jeffress is going along with him. The Milwaukee Brewers were able to work out a deal with Texas just before Monday’s trade deadline. The Brewers will receive top prospects Lewis Brinson and Luis Ortiz in return.

Lucroy is a valuable piece and he should help the Rangers down the stretch. The 30-year-old catcher is currently hitting .299 with 13 home runs, 50 RBIs and an OPS of .841.

The 28-year-old Jeffress has been Milwaukee’s closer all season and has been excellent. He has a 2-2 record with 27 saves in 28 chances, to go along with a 2.22 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP. It has been a career year for Jeffress, and his first as a full-time closer.
