Montee Ball has been sentenced to 60 days in jail after facing six charges – two felonies and four misdemeanors – related to domestic violence incidents. Ball is currently undergoing alcohol counseling and was ordered to also enroll in a domestic abuse treatment program and not have contact with the female victims.

As part of a plea deal, Ball pleaded guilty to two charges of disorderly conduct and one charge of battery. When he is released from jail, Ball will be on probation for 18 months and will not be allowed to consume or possess alcohol during that time. He is also barred from being in any “facility where alcohol is the primary commodity for sale.”

The former Wisconsin star and Denver Broncos bust at running back is just 25 years old and has already washed out of the NFL. The two incidents he was charged with happened in 2014 and earlier this year.

In February Ball was charged with misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct when his girlfriend told police he had thrown her across a hotel room in Madison, Wisconsin. Then just a month later he was charged with felony strangulation and suffocation, substantial battery after a former girlfriend told police he had assaulted her in 2014.

Ball compounded his mistakes by violating his bail agreement in April and being arrested. He wasn’t allowed to drink as part of that deal and he was found in a bar.

Ball rushed for 5,140 yards and 77 touchdowns in college and was a two-time All-American. The Denver Broncos selected him with the 58th pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, but lasted just two years with the team. He was waived before the 2015 season after rushing for just 731 yards over 21 games. The New England Patriots signed him to their practice squad before the 2015 season and he spent the entire year in that capacity before being released on February 9, 2016.
