Carlin Isles didn’t start playing rugby until he was 21. Now he’s taking the sport by storm. The 26-year-old, who once ran a 4.22 second 40-yard dash is widely considered the fastest man in the sport. He’s a key member of the United States’ sevens team that is competing in the 2016 Olympics.

Isles played college football and ran track at Ashland University, then was a professional sprinter before being signed to the Detroit Lions practice squad in December of 2013. He left the team in February to join the Glasgow Warriors of the Pro12 rugby league.

In the above video Isles discusses his rough upbringing and how he found the sport.
