Michael Phelps was mentally preparing for the semifinals of the 200m butterfly event, when South African swimmer Chad le Clos shadowboxed and then stood right in front of him for what must have felt like an eternity to Phelps. However, Phelps never broke his intent stare.

After Phelps qualified for the finals, which take place tomorrow, he brushed off the pre-race antics:

If Phelps can win on Tuesday, it will be his 20th gold medal. His Olympics career has already been astonishing – this would be a nice little carrot on top.
