Well, This is One Way to Steal Home Plate
By Kyle Koster
San Diego Padres outfielder Travis Jankowski stole home for the second time this season during Wednesday night’s victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates — and did it in stunning fashion. He broke for the plate on catcher Eric Fryer’s return toss to reliever Antonio Bastardo and scored when the throw home skipped away.
That’s what happens when one puts pressure on the defense. Of course, Jankowski could have just as easily been gunned down by 15 feet — but no one ever said swiping home was safe.
