Hugh Freeze Had a Funeral For Himself to Teach His Players Something

Hugh Freeze, like many college football coaches at this time of year, is searching for a little extra motivation with the season approaching. Freeze appears to have come up with something completely new – faking his own death and holding a “funeral scene.” It sounds like he had his family then eulogize him on video and showed the video to his players. I’m not sure death is the desired end game of college football, but I think his point was to do things so you’ll be remember how you want to be remembered. I think just showing them “The Muppet Christmas Carol” would have explained that point just as well, if not better.

Who knows. Maybe this worked. Ole Miss is coming off a 10-3 season and a win in the Sugar Bowl. This will be an interesting tactic to revisit in November.
