Colin Kaepernick has the top-selling NFL jersey as a result of his high-profile stand. It’s become a symbol of something bigger and its popularity is likely to continue.

The San Francisco 49ers quarterback expressed gratitude for the boon in an Instagram post Wednesday morning. He also vowed to donate 100 percent of the proceeds he receives from the sales “back into the communities.”

While Kaepernick’s cut of the sales is rather insignificant compared to his base salary (Adrian Peterson claimed he only received $10,000 for sales of his jersey back in 2012), announcing his intention is a smart move. One of the criticisms he’s faced from the public is that his actions in the communities he hopes to lift up haven’t spoken as loudly as his words.
