Frank Thomas is fully buying into the Tim Tebow baseball hype. On Thursday, the Big Hurt said he’s even willing to bet Tebow makes it to the big leagues eventually.

See for yourself:

Uh, hey Frank, I’ll take that bet! How much do you have in your bank account right now? That’s how high I want to make the stakes.

Tebow is a 29-year-old headed to an instructional league and was only willing to sign with the New York Mets because they will let him also fulfill his television obligations. If he is  really serious about baseball, shouldn’t Tebow give up the TV gig?

Additionally, I watched Tebow during the workout he held for major league teams. When he finally faced live pitching (after the batting practice session), he looked awful. To be more specific, he looked like a 29-year-old who hadn’t played baseball since high school.

Tebow has always been an excellent athlete and he’s in outstanding shape. Neither of those things means he’ll be any good at baseball. Heck, he trained for and played football in high school, college and professionally and still couldn’t come close to even being a serviceable NFL quarterback. It takes natural talent and a specific skill set to succeed at any sport. Given Tebow’s showing at his workout, he doesn’t have that in baseball.
