Jimmy Garoppolo was thought to be out a long time earlier today when he was injured during the New England Patriots 31-24 win over the Miami Dolphins. Well, all of New England can breathe a sigh of relief as X-rays on Garoppolo’s throwing shoulder came back negative.

Now reports say Garoppolo has a sprained AC joint in his shoulder. While that’s not great news, it shouldn’t keep him out that long. If all goes well he could be back in one to two weeks.

The problem for the Patriots is that they only needed Garoppolo to start for the next two weeks before Tom Brady returns from his suspension.

Still, in the end this is good news. Instead of having Jacoby Brissett starting the next two weeks then backing up Brady for the next few months, the Pats will likely have Garoppolo back soon.

New England dodged a bullet on this one.
