There is a lot to know about Richie Incognito, the Buffalo Bills offensive lineman best known for bullying ex-teammate Jonathan Martin. But if you had to explain him to someone in an elevator, you could do a lot worse than this:

Richie Incognito is the type of guy who will smash up his own car.

We all know at least one. This anecdote was unearthed by Bleacher Report, which dropped an access piece on Incognito a few days ago.

"Of course, his $300,000 Ferrari would beg to differ. When Incognito was suspended indefinitely, when the paparazzi picked at his every move like vultures and he literally locked the door, closed the shades and refused to turn on his TV, he went full Giancarlo Stanton on his prized possession. “Oh, I beat the s–t out of my Ferrari,” he admits. “That was my breaking point. I had internalized everything and was just so sick of being followed around and being the national pariah for something I didn’t feel was just."

As always, there is a lot of backstory to this. Incognito reveals a time in life when he was in an alcohol-and-weed-induced haze that got him sent to a psychiatric clinic in Kansas after failing a series of drug tests while at Nebraska. When the press found out, Nebraska said he was there for anger management treatment, which was true in sort of a roundabout way. He refers to himself during that period as “Angry Richie.”

He has since swapped the Ferrari for a Rolls Royce Wraith, and has cut back on the partying. It’s a New Richie, see, presumably one who can be trusted around his own cars.
