Patrick Reed Told Tiger Woods, "You are not sitting me on any matches"

Patrick Reed has been the fire of the U.S. Ryder Cup team. He has assumed the role of Captain America and settled into it. That was evident on Saturday as Reed went out and provided a spark early for the U.S. in foursomes, even though Sergio Garcia and Rafa Cabrera Bello eventually fought back and halved the match. Reed then manhandled Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson alone in afternoon four-ball.

You don’t have to look any further than the picture above or at his reaction after holing out for eagle on the sixth hole.

After their four-ball win over Stenson and Rose, Jordan Spieth told reporters that Tiger Woods mentioned to Reed that he might be sitting one day and Reed had a fiery response for the vice captain.

“It was really, really fun to be a part of. I know he has that in him. We’ve all seen it before. He’s Captain America for us. He wanted to play five matches at the beginning of the week. Tiger told him he might be sitting one and he said, ‘You are not sitting me on any matches.’ We got off to the start in the mornings that we needed to secure a spot in the afternoon.”

So Patrick Reed, real American hero, told Tiger Woods that there’s no way he’d be sitting any matches.

Reed will face off against Rory McIlroy in singles matches on Sunday. It will either be really exciting or a big let down. McIlroy has been on fire and has won every match except his first foursome match on Friday and he did it with a Ryder Cup rookie by his side.
