Kevin Durant Able to Sign With Warriors Because "they didn't get the job done"

Kevin Durant signed with the Golden State Warriors over the summer. The question is, would he have signed with the Warriors if they hadn’t blown a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals? Or, more interestingly, what if the Thunder hadn’t blown their own 3-1 series lead against the Warriors earlier in the playoffs? Well, Kevin Durant kind of answered the first question in a recent interview.

So, when Durant tuned into Game 7 and there was no way he could go to Golden State. Then a few minutes later, he discovered how fun it might be to play there because he’d never considered it before? Then he was begging, but then he wasn’t sure. It’s almost like it was a decision that took time.

And I’m not sure what exactly changes if the Warriors did win the Finals. They’re still a loaded team that won 73 games. Harrison Barnes still gets maxed out somewhere else and leaves the perfect spot in the lineup for Durant. They still won the 2015 NBA Championship. Durant could still shoot open 3’s and layups if the Warriors had won the ’16 title. Who cares though?

Durant said he team couldn’t get the job done and he’s glad that they lost. Shots fired at his new teammates! Hopefully, none of the Warriors are as sensitive as Russell Westbrook!
