San Francisco Giants Fans Trying to Blame Playoff Exit on Taylor Swift

The San Francisco Giants won World Series titles in 2010, 2012 and 2014. These are all even years. The every-other-season thing became a thing and even the most serious of sportswriters gave it validity until the Chicago Cubs put an end to such discussion with a stunning Game 4 comeback.

There are many reasons the Giants did not win it all in 2016. A woeful 32-42 record during the second half of the season set up a matchup with the 103-win Cubs. A bullpen patched together with duct tape was ineffective. Madison Bumgarner, even though he’s Madison Bumgarner, can’t start every game.

Some Giants fans would rather blame the shortcoming on external factors because that’s easier to stomach. These people have decided international singing sensation Taylor Swift is at the root of all their team’s problems.

You see, Swift released albums during each of San Francisco’s three championship seasons. This year, she did not.

Boom.

If you need any more evidence than this complete coincidence, it’s time to take a hard look in the mirror and accept the fact that you’re capable of critical thinking.

Look, if Swift really wanted to hurt the Giants she’d have a three-month fling with Joe Panik and then pen a platinum album about the failed relationship — which she still may do in the future.
