Greg Abbott is the governor of Texas and a graduate of the university thereof. As such, he has a rooting interest in what happens to the Big 12 conference and to all the schools in Texas.

Most particularly, however, Abbott is upset that the Big 12 didn’t add Houston.

This is the sort of thing it’s expedient to say at a time like this if you’re the governor of Texas. The Big 12 got everybody all worked up, and nobody was closer to putting the champagne on ice than Houston.

Maybe the Cougars do deserve better, but deserve’s got nothing to do with it.
