Every game left was a must-win for Texas. The Longhorns lost 24-21 to Kansas State. This loss probably seals Charlie Strong’s departure, one way or another, at the end of this season. Texas now must close out undefeated just to go 8-4. Three of their final five are against Baylor, West Virginia, and TCU.

Strong had to rebuild at Texas. That rebuild was bound to take time. But, implosions on both sides of the ball? Bowl game still in jeopardy in year three? It’s time for Texas to pursue a different direction.

With the Big 12 not adding Houston, there will be strong speculation that direction will be Tom Herman.
