Sunday night’s game ended the only way it could: with a ridiculous play. The Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos played a completely disjointed, slow-developing contest that wound up getting mildly exciting about midway through the fourth quarter. When the game reached overtime, virtually the entire viewing audience was ready for it to be over. So of course things came down to the final play of the extra frame.

After the teams traded field goals, Denver missed an ill-advised 62-yard attempt, giving Kansas City excellent field position with 1:03 left. The Chiefs drove down the field and lined up for a 34-yard field goal with just five seconds left. Because this game had been absurd the whole way through, the finish had to be just as crazy.

Kansas City kicker Cairo Santos nailed the left upright with his kick, but it managed to flutter between and through the posts. The Chiefs had won 30-27 as time expired.

Take a look:

DOINK.

That was a crazy game. Now let’s never speak of it again.
