There has been much anticipation for this week in the NFL. After years of the league autocratically fining players for cleats that deviated from standard designs, players are permitted to call attention to causes that are important to them this week.

Unfortunately for players on the Bears and 49ers, the snow at Soldier Field in Chicago threw a wrench in many of those plans. As Laura Okmin of Fox explained, many of these specialty cleats were not equipped to handle the elements, and players had to wear other ones.

Hopefully it’s not too much to ask for the league to allow players from these team’s to wear the cleats they were planning next week.
