Police arrested Western Michigan basketball player Joeviair Kennedy on Friday in connection with the shooting death of a 19-year-old male WMU student. He will be arraigned in Kalamazoo Monday on murder and armed robbery charges.

Authorities allege Kennedy shot the student, Jacob Jones, at an off-campus apartment during a robbery of money and a phone.

Kennedy, a freshman guard from Muskegon, made four appearances for Western Michigan this season. He was averaging 7.1 minutes per game and 3.1 points per game.
