Sidney Crosby came into the NHL during the 2005-2006 season. That year the Penguins finished fifth in their division and missed the playoffs. Since then they’ve finished first four times, second five times, fifth once and not missed the playoffs once. They’ve won two Stanley Cups, including one last summer. This season the Penguins are again at the top of the Metropolitan Division and Crosby is first in the NHL in goals and second in points.

The point is, Sidney Crosby has been so good for so long that it would be understandable if you wanted to ignore him slapping a puck out of the air for the second week in a row because he wasn’t behind the net this time. You shouldn’t though. Just because he makes it look as effortless as batting practice, doesn’t mean it’s not incredible.

Even better for hockey fans is the fact that Crosby got hit in the face with a stick the period before this so you can play the tough hockey man card. What more could you want?
