Blake Griffin is having minor knee surgery and will miss 3-6 weeks according to the Los Angeles Times. Griffin is currently averaging 21.2 points, 8.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists for the 20-8 Clippers.

Los Angeles is currently sitting in the 4th spot in the Western Conference. The team is four games behind the top-seeded Warriors and 3.5 games ahead of the current 7th-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder so there is a lot of room for movement.

If there is such a thing, this is actually pretty good timing for Griffin to miss time. As it currently stands, just 5 of the Clippers’ next 19 games are against teams with winning records. Starting on January 28, when Griffin could or should be back, they play 7 of 9 games against winning teams heading into the All-Star break.

As for Blake, this is just the latest in a long line of injury problems. When you take that into consideration, maybe a trade for Bradley Beal isn’t so absurd.
