A Classic Mixup Caused Kyrie Irving to Be 45 Minutes Late to Meeting With Brad Stevens

Kyrie Irving was 45 minutes late to a meeting with Brad Stevens. Usually that is something that would raise eyebrows – shouldn’t he be on-time to get on the same page with his new coach before the games begin? – but Kyrie actually had a legit excuse: Unbeknownst to him, his Jeep’s engine got changed, it no longer ran on regular gasoline, he stalled out, and had to wait for about 45 minutes in the rain while the Celtics’ equipment manager came to pick him up.

This is kinda related, but not really. When I was in college, I drove from Madison, Wi. to Bloomington In. for IU’s Little 500 party weekend. On the way there, and on the way back, I knew I needed an oil change, but what I didn’t know was that not getting an oil change meant game over for the engine (not that this is a valid excuse, but I thought the consequences were somewhere between nothing and that). You can probably guess what happened next.
