Lonzo Ball Threw Up an All-Time Brick and Luke Walton Appears to Have Stopped Trying

Lonzo Ball had another dumpster fire of a game from the field on Monday night. The Clippers beat the Lakers, 120-115, and Lonzo finished with 3 points on 7 shots in 26 minutes. He was 1-of-6 from 3-point range. Here’s the final miss. It is a real doozy.

I have to say, down 5 points with 11.8 seconds remaining, you probably want a better shot. The fact that this came out of a timeout really calls into question what Luke Walton is doing. This clearly wasn’t a play. Do the Lakers not have a side out-of-bounds play? As soon as he inbounded the ball, Lonzo put his arms up and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope appears to expect him to come get the ball. This seemed like a poor design. Then after the brick smashed against the backboard, Lonzo again looked dumbfounded. Could they not draw up something better in the huddle than, “worst shooter in the NBA fires up 30-footer?” Or did they and somebody didn’t do what he was supposed to do? Either way, it’s not a great look for Luke Walton’s team.
