Tiger Woods started his second round at the Hero World Challenge with three birdies in his first four holes and finished the front nine with an eagle on the ninth hole for a 31. In that time, his odds to win the 2018 Masters climbed to 15/1. Woods hit every fairway and every green on the front nine and took sole possession of the lead on the ninth after ripping a 3-wood onto the green and draining the putt.

Woods wasn’t as solid on the back nine and managed only one birdie while also carding two bogies to shoot 68. Overall his performance thus far has been impressive. Although he was caught by several players on the back nine, and now trails Charley Hoffman who is -12, Woods still has a chance entering the weekend.

Woods told Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis that he struggled with his speed on the greens and that he has proved that the surgery was successful. Woods also said it’s going to take him a while to get back to where he wants to be.
