Carson Wentz went down with a knee injury on Sunday and the Philadelphia Eagles are fearing the worst about their second-year quarterback. The team believe Wentz may have torn his ACL during Philly’s 43-35 win over the Los Angeles Rams.

Wentz was injured in the third quarter after absorbing multiple hits on a touchdown run that was called back due to a holding penalty. He remained in the game and even capped the drive with a touchdown pass to Alshon Jeffery, but left the game after. He spent time in the injury tent before he was seen walking back to the locker room.

While Nick Foles is certainly a competent backup option, Wentz has been brilliant this season for the Eagles. He entered Sunday’s matchup with a quarterback rating of 102.0, and after throwing four touchdown passes against the Rams, he now has 33 on the season against just seven interceptions.

The Eagles clinched the NFC East with their win over the Rams, but a run through the playoffs would be considerably more difficult without Wentz.
