Kobe Bryant's Dramatic Reading of 'Fly Eagles Fly' Is Good, But Not Quite Shatner Level

The standard by which all dramatic song readings will forever be judged is the one William Shatner did at the 1978 Saturn Awards, a performance made all the better by the impossibility of knowing whether or not Shatner knew how ridiculous he looked.

Now, Kobe Bryant is a pretty weird guy, and my hopes were high that his Shatnerian weirdness would manifest in this little video he did for the Philadelphia Eagles.

As you can see, Kobe, who went to high school in Philadelphia, lacks Shatner’s otherworldly sensibilities, but it’s a reasonable effort nonetheless.
